Disney Animation is the Best Animation
Before the Walt Disney Company started to produce the feature animated films we are so familiar with today like Snow White and Peter Pan, they produced short animated films.
This classic I came across on the web is titled “On Ice”. It is a pretty cool, wonderfully animated, short film done by Walt and his crew. It contains all the classic Disney characters Like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy etc. It’s basically a fun little short with everyone going Ice Skating on a frozen lake.
This short was released in 1931, 1931…can you believe that? When you watch this you will know what I mean. The beautiful color (presented in Technicolor, click to learn more), the fluid movement…it’s simply amazing. All of this work was done without the use of computers, the talented team at Disney used pencil, ink, paper, paint and film cameras utilizing 35mm film.
This is why Walt Disney rose to the amount of fame that he did. No one had ever seen animated characters dance & sing, in wonderful color, so in tune with the music and their surroundings ever before in the history of cinema…and the world is a better place for it.
* Special Note: Walt does the voice for Mickey.
